Lounge Chair Hibernation

Lounge Chair Hibernation

My favorite destination on a sunny afternoon is my back deck; specifically on this blue lounge chair.

The back deck of my house faces directly south; so sunshine provides a warm treat.  Even during the chillier months of the year, partial sunshine will create enough heat to enjoy some precious moments of fresh air.

Where I live, November is the "turning point" month.  I live in  a "lake effect climate zone", where the combination of the colder air and still mild lake temperatures will often create significant cloudiness. The absence of sunshine can truly impact our moods and energy levels.  (In fact, there is an entire field of medical study devoted to this issue called "Seasonal Affective Disorder...which is a type of depression that's related to the lack of sunlight that comes during these cloudy seasons)

There are many times in the coldest and snowiest months of the year, when the chair may be covered with several inches (or even a few feet) of snow; instead of my favorite beach towel!

I refuse to put this chair into a storage room for a couple of reasons.  First, because I can look out the window and see the chair as a great reminder of the warm weather and sunshine that will eventually return.  Secondly, I want it to be 'in place' for those times when partial sunshine will emerge.

Even in the cloudiest months, there are occasional breaks in the clouds that bring periods of sunshine.

That's why this blue lounge chair never joins the rest of the deck furniture in "hibernation"....instead it remains parked on my back deck all year long!
