My Work Family
When it comes to "family", many people can fall into the category.
Many of us consider have friends who become like members of the family.
Let's face it; often the people we spend the majority of our waking hours with are the people at work. Our colleagues often become a "family". We have tasks to accomplish; working toward a similar goal.
In a business like television news, there is often significant stress that can happen with trying to meet constant deadlines in a situation where change is the only thing just as constant as the deadlines.
Live television brings relentless pressure to get everything right. The first time...(because there is no second chance)
I've been blessed to work at the same television station; on the same newscast; for the past 23 years of my life! The early morning shift at WOOD-TV, the NBC affiliate serving West Michigan.
I'm so blessed to work with a talented team of passionate and dedicated professionals. I don't tell them often enough how special they are in my life.
When it came to celebrating my birthday earlier this week, it was terrific to spend a few hours with this special "family". Many of these faces have been a part of my work "family" for a decade or two....some are just a year or two into the clan.
One thing is clear....my life is much more special because of getting to work as a member of this incredible family!
