Temporary Family Members

20120403-173000.jpg We're enjoying a "stay-cation" this year for Spring Break! Since we are "staying home" for the week off, we volunteered to 'dog-sit' for my son's newly adopted dogs. I've got to admit, I'm not really a dog person. I often feel a little nervous around dogs, since I didn't grow up with a FIDO in the home. As a result, I let my insecurities overtake my feelings when it comes to dogs. When the kids were much younger, we had a dog for about 6 months, until I discovered I was expecting our youngest. I thought a puppy and newborn would send me "over the edge", so I made the difficult decision to allow another family to adopt our dog. That was 14 years ago! Fast forward to the Summer of 2009. We had been pet-free, when we decided to let your youngest adopt 2 kitties. (How hard is it to have a couple of kitties, right?) The cats are easy pets, pretty self-suficient. Of course, the cats aren't very affectionate. They hide from us, almost acting like WE are guests in THEIR home! So now this week with these cute dogs! What a blast! I'm considering whether our "Temporary" Family Members may become a more "Permanent" part of our family. Though the biggest problem with that change in our living arrangements is the CATS! (They don't seem to be very excited about sharing "their home" with furry 4-legged friends of a different variety)
