I've become a huge fan of Jon Gordon. The Best-Selling Author/Speaker is a great motivator and leadership coach. Just prior to the start of 2015, I read his book, "One Word That Will Change Your Life". Instead of "resolutions" for a new year, the book makes the case for choosing a "word" to be the guiding focus of the year ahead. In the book, Gordon and his fellow writers don't give readers a specific "word", but rather take readers on a journey to pick one word which will serve as the controlling idea for their year. The journey of choosing the word is an interesting process, with so many options initially coming to mind. For 2015, I mulled over many options for "my word". I eventually chose the word "ACTION". It was an inspired choice, as I had so many projects I wanted to tackle in 2015. (Unfortunately, most of those big projects are still waiting for my attention)For 2016, I'm choosing the word "GRATITUDE" as my "one word" for the year. As the new year dawns, I'm amazed at the countless blessings that make up my life. Unfortunately, I don't always appreciate those great blessings in my life. As I make GRATITUDE the word for this year, I am making a pledge to myself to give thanks for all of those special people and circumstances in my life.
Terri DeBoer joined the team at Jacobs Financial Services as director of Communications and a licensed insurance producer after forecasting West Michigan’s weather for more than thirty years.
In addition to delivering West Michigan’s “wake up” weather, Terri also served as co-host of a daily lifestyle show called eightWest. Through weekly interviews with Tom Jacobs, Terri realized significant similarities between forecasting the weather and forecasting the financial markets. In both areas, having a plan for safety and being prepared for times of uncertainty is critical. Reviewing her personal financial retirement strategy ignited a passion within her to help others create solid plans for a fulfilling retirement. So Terri officially “retired” from WOOD-TV, passed her certification exam, and joined the team at Jacobs Financial Services.
