Congratulations to ME! After just 3 short days into my commitment (to myself) to write on/in my blog everyday....Day #4 was my first "Skip Day".
At the risk of sounding like (what I often call) an excuse factory, I have turned a new corner in just getting right back to the keyboard. I've had previous starts at writing a daily blog, but after the first "miss day", the effort always just seemed to just get buried.
I think most 'big efforts' in life are like that.
We want to lose weight, so we start a diet and exercise program. We want a clutter-free home, so we start to clean drawers and closets. We want to learn a new skill/language/concept, so we start reading or practicing. After a few faithful days or weeks (or months), we miss a day or two and then just give up!
For me, this time around is very different. I'm REFUSING to stop.
I will have to understand that sometimes, life will just get in the way on certain days. But not everyday.
A lapse, or skip, or miss on one day does not have to translate into EVERYDAY.
So, perhaps having the "Skip Day" happen so early in the journey this time around was really important.
It's not the day (or days) that I may occasionally miss that will sink this effort. It's what happens on the day after that will be the most critical.
It's just like every other area of life. It's how we recover and refocus that will define the outcome. I must keep reminding myself that "Success is a journey...not a destination."
